Covadonga
The Sanctuary of Covadonga is located 10 km from the city of Cangas de Onís. It is the spiritual center of Asturias and a must-see for all those who come to the region of Los Picos de Europa.
In the Holy Cave is the patron saint of Asturias "La Santina" who is said to be "little and gallant", and according to legend, she helped King Pelayo to achieve victory in the Battle of Covadonga.
The Sanctuary is located within the Picos de Europa National Park, surrounded by mountains and forests.
It is one of the most representative symbols of the history and culture of Asturias.
